Get Just "Some" Gardening Equipment!
Gardeners love their equipment and don't hesitate on purchasing the latest and greatest, especially if it's on sale. But not every gardener has all the tools however, or even the most necessary ones. Many gardeners will just make do with what they have. Most of the time, it's all about improvisation.
To maintain your garden though, you do need the most basic gardening equipment. A hoe, a shovel, and a rake come to mind offhandedly. There is also naturally other gardening equipment that is equally important, and I know that I simply can't be without my pruning scissors.
As the years wore on I found that I had collected many essential pieces of gardening equipment, and now I find myself with tools overflowing from my shed. The best ones that I have though are a very old pair of comfortable gardening gloves, and my trusty old pruning shears that I had brought out one day, and just never replaced.
When I can't find my pruning scissors, my kitchen knife takes its place while I use it as a pruning knife. If I can't find my hoe or shovel, I just use the tip of the knife to get the job done. And sometimes, all the tools I really need are my nicely gloved hands to do the job of loosening the soil or pull up weeds.
Sometimes it's very hard to drag yourself away from what you're doing in your garden just to have to get a tool from the shed. And you know that a trip to the shed is inevitable for that much needed tool.
Some jobs are just easier with the proper equipment at hand, and it is worth your while to retrieve said tool from the shed.
One of my favorite pieces of yard equipment is the garden claw. With two varieties available, one for standing work, and one for closer work that fits in your hand, the garden claw is a must-have in your gardening equipment arsenal. Stick the claw in the ground, give it a simple twist and pull it out. It easily loosens soil and is more than effective at pulling out weeds.
Really the key thing to remember about gardening tools is that a lot of very fancy stuff is really not necessary. Remember to focus on the jobs that need to be done and the right piece of equipment will quickly come to mind.
